EMERGENCY SHELTER – YOUTH CARE WORKER

SALARY:

DOQ. Full time non-exempt position with excellent benefits. Weekday, evenings, and
every other weekend hours. Some holiday hours required.

SUMMARY:

Primary responsibilities include assisting team members with overall operations of shelter facility
and responsible for the direct care, behavior management and supervision to shelter residents, ages
5-17. This includes; monitoring personal hygiene, health, medication administration, client intakes
and discharges, meal preparation, kitchen clean-up and maintenance, assistance with the planning
and facilitation of daily cultural & physical activities for the youth. Will facilitate house meetings,
talking circles and table time. Reports directly to Shelter Coordinator and assists other staff as
needed.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

AA degree in social services, child development, elementary/secondary education and/or related
experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

At least 3 years experience working with youth in a residential, therapeutic, group or classroom
setting. Must have experience working with youth with a variety of emotional, personal or social
concerns. Knowledge of the Native American culture, values, and family systems preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have valid Driver’s License and pass DHS Background Check.
