Plymouth Christian Youth Center (PCYC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) community-based organization with a 63 year history of providing services to youth, families and individuals on a non-sectarian basis. PCYC’s mission is to enrich the skills, prospects and spirit of North Minneapolis youth and adults, in partnership with families and communities. This mission is carried out through an array of award-winning programs, including PYC Arts and Tech High School, Out-of-School Time programs, and the Capri Theater. PCYC’s Out of School Time Youth Worker provides socially and academically enriching year-round opportunities for North Minneapolis children and youth. The purpose of this position is to achieve the academic and social/emotional outcomes of PCYC’s highly effective OST programs.
Pay Rate: $15.00-$17.00/hour

 Lead a classroom of scholars (grades K-5) in new and existing academic and youth development activities and curriculum that address the academic and social/emotional strengths and challenges for scholars.
 Assess the social/emotional strengths and areas of challenge for program participants in the classroom. In collaboration with the Academic Coordinator and staff, develop and implement individualized learning plans for each child and monitor their progress.
 Utilize program assessment data and individual learning plans to inform instruction.
 Work in partnership with the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ), ensuring full implementation of the NAZ ExL Solution Plan.
 Establish and maintain meaningful, appropriate, professional relationships with participants and their families, to be the most effective in assisting the children in attaining academic and life goals.
 Effectively utilize volunteers, interns and apprentices to support classroom instruction.
 Engage with families and communicate regularly about scholar progress.
 Attend meetings and events necessary to promote partnerships and the long term success of OST programming at PCYC
 Effectively work as a team member with other staff on the OST Team.
 Actively participate in team building and trainings/workshops geared toward youth work and building a culture of achievement.

Education and Experience:
 High School diploma, college degree preferred
 2 years’ experience working with elementary age youth

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 Ability to relate effectively and in a positive manner with adults and children from diverse social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
 Ability to model behavior consistent with the agency mission.
 Possess the energy and motivation necessary to work under circumstances requiring unique responses to a variety of problem-centered situations, and the resourcefulness to do so with minimal direct supervision.
 Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in oral and written communication on an interpersonal or group level.
 Knowledge of and ability to use computer and other technical resources to effectively accomplish work.
 Ability to travel to various locations for meetings and events
 Experience with or ability to develop group activities that enhance academic, social emotional skills, and/or creativity
