VOBS Intercept Sales Representative

Position: Intercept Sales Representative

Location: Twin Cities Center

Reports To: Executive Director

FLSA: Non-Exempt, 1.0 FTE

Voyageur Outward Bound School (VOBS) delivers amazing hands-on experiences that help people develop confidence and character by challenging their perception of what they can accomplish.

VOBS wants to solidify and grow its award-winning Intercept program, which serves teens who are struggling to make positive choices. This sales role is critical to building a strong pipeline for Intercept students. Nationally, that means building relationships with the therapists and parents of our current Intercept alumni. In the Twin Cities, it means building relationships with those people – family therapists, juvenile justice officials, school counselors, etc – who work with and could direct local teenagers to our Intercept program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Create a pipeline for Intercept students
  • Build relationships with the therapists and parents of current Intercept alumni
  • Build relationships with local family therapists, juvenile justice, school counselors, possibly treatment officers and others
  • Help create and execute the Intercept sales plan
  • Develop a clear sales process and metrics to sell Intercept programs
  • Work with marketing to promote Intercept in ways such as representing VOBS at appropriate conferences and writing blogs
  • Create collateral and messaging for Intercept sales efforts

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Attend family conferences to build relationships with parents and understand how we better serve them
  • Stay current with Intercept curriculum and developments by staying in touch with Intercept staff in Ely
  • Help establish VOBS as a Thought Leader, especially on Intercept related issues
  • Identify ways for VOBS to strengthen the impact of Intercept and offer students and parents resources post course.
  • Create informal advisory group of influencers in the Intercept are to support and provide counsel
  • Work with other sales representatives in the OB system to share lessons

Qualities, Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Sales experience is preferred, especially business to business and growing and building a new territory
  • Entrepreneurial, results oriented, a self-starter
  • Ability to represent VOBS and persuasively and credibly communicate the value of Intercept
  • Understanding of sales processes and tracking
  • Resiliency and adaptability
  • Work independently
  • Execute a plan, meet goals and deadlines
  • Organized, disciplined
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and build rapport quickly
  • Effective budget management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs and preferably experience with computer databases, especially Salesforce
  • Knowledge of the social media landscape and efficient use of electronic communication

Education and Work Experience: 

  • Minimum 2 years sales experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
